This month we are reading some ecofiction: Greenwood by Michael Christie.

Greenwood tells the interconnected story of the Greenwood family across generations, from a lumberman in the Great Depression to a guide in a future ravaged by ecological catastrophe. The novel is structured like tree rings to explore themes of environmental degradation, family legacy and human resilience. The narrative moves between different time periods to reveal how the family’s complex relationship with trees and each other shapes their past, present and future.

“An arresting eco-parable” – The Guardian

“Astonishing … Greenwood offers a rare sentiment in the climate emergency: hope” – The Walrus
